Ripping is still a PITA, but I do it for all discs because then I never need the disc again. For example, I put Auro-3D and Dolby Atmos soundtracks on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 3D. That means I don't have to worry about the size of the file fitting on a disc either. I have all my 251 3D movies on hard drives connected to it.
I play the 3D movies from a Xidoo X9S media player box. It does like to change the extension file name, though which some players might not like (I just change it back to MKV). It works fine for 3D MKV rips from MakeMKV.
